Charter Fishing our world class waters
Pine Island & Boca Grand Pass are two of the
best fishing areas in North America. Boca Grand has long held the title of
"tarpon capitol of the world". Pine Island sound has been named one of the ten
best places to fish in North America by Sports and Field magazine. Each year
thousands come from all over the world to fish in these magnificent fishing
spots.
Fish Lee County
is very happy to announce their newest service … world class fishing
charters. Captain Bob Brandt is now on board and available
to show you how it’s done here in Southwest Florida. His years of
experience fishing the inshore and near shore waters of Florida’s western coast
will give you the best chance of hooking up with some of the area’s most sought
after gamefish like Snook, Sea Trout, Redfish, Tripletail, Tarpon, Shark,
Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack and many other
local species. Captain Bob’s vast knowledge of these targets and how they
react to existing weather / sea conditions help to provide his guests with the
success they expect from an experienced charter fishing service.

Fishing Charter Service Expectations
Inshore:
Inshore fishing means “pounding the
mangroves” and working natural structure like an oyster bed or a shallow flat.
For this type fishing Captain Bob will run a boat with skinny water
capabilities. Often times a low winter tide will drive fish into areas of
extremely shallow water so a boat that drafts as little as 10 inches gives the
angler more range thus creating more of an advantage.
The main targets for inshore fishing are
Redfish, Sea Trout and Snook. Captain Bob will supply the live bait
necessary (shrimp / greenbacks / shiners) or you choose to throw an artificial
bait if that is your preference. Tackle is also supplied unless you prefer
to use your own rig(s). Captain Bob uses and recommends spinning gear
spooled with 30 pound test, high visibility braided line tied to 30 pound test
fluorocarbon leader tied to a 1/0 or 2/0 high quality circle hook.

Near Shore / Offshore:
In order to avoid confusion, let’s first
establish the understanding that Fish Lee County does not target
blue water offshore species like Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna, Wahoo and other deep
water species. Sure, these fish are available in the Gulf but from the
Cape Coral area you would need to run approximately 100 miles in order to find
them. At this time we are not equipped to offer offshore services.
Although if you have the boat, the gear and the time to chase these offshore
sportsman’s most glamorous fish, Captain Bob also has experience with this type
of deck skill and can be hired to help you locate and hook up. Being
the proud holder of a 50 ton Masters Captains license he can also expertly
run your boat so you can focus on keeping a trophy at the end of your line.
So with that said, the near shore fishing
service offered by Fish Lee County will put you on King Mackerel
(a seasonal species), Grouper, Snapper, Amberjack and other fish who inhabit the
natural and artificial structure as far out as 30 miles and as deep as 100 feet.
A sturdy 23 foot center console boat pushed by 225 reliable horses will be used
for near shore fishing. The center console is equipped with state of the
art Navigation Equipment (GPS) and high tech Depth/Fish sounding equipment. We
can supply the fishing gear or you may use your own. Heavier rigs in the 20
pound and up class are suggested for pulling fish from drops near the bottom or
into structure. Live bait like pinfish and shiners vary as available but
there’s always something willing to bite on more readily available bait such as
frozen squid or menhaden chunks.

As an added bonus, guests of a fishing
charter by Fish Lee County can also be treated to details
regarding the natural wonders of our salty backyard. Manatees, Dolphin,
bald eagles, osprey, sharks, rays, turtles and so many other indigenous life
forms inhabit the area. So please feel free to take in the awesome sights
and take advantage of your captain’s knowledge for this amazing piece of
geography.
